BIOGRAPHY

Alessandro Tebon

I live in Bolzano, the city where I was born. It is a border land, where languages and traditions have lived side by side for centuries, and that is also why this site speaks Italian, German and English.

Electronic music was the first field in which I worked alongside others. Between 2010 and 2015 I founded and ran a webzine and community devoted to electronic music in Italy.

Today I make experimental, hypnotic electronic music with analogue synthesisers, drum machines and expressive controllers. Recordings and explorations in sound are gathered on my SoundCloud channel.

Working with sound led to the wish to build instruments, not only to play them. Lympha is a synth for Ableton Live that I conceived around my Osmose: a virtual string played with pressure, offered free of charge for MPE controllers. Moments comes from a different field: it is a free tool for annotating documents at precise moments in time.

For more than five years I have studied and practised the traditions of spiritual knowledge: the Vedas, Gnosis, Hermeticism, alchemy, astrology and the Christian teachings. I read them from a Christocentric and Neoplatonic orientation, with one rule of method: to distinguish what tradition documents from what is elaboration by analogy. Out of this work came Athanor, the school I founded and curate. It is a four-year path through philosophy, mysticism and esotericism, opening in January 2027.

Music, instruments and school are, for me, three forms of the same question. I believe that knowledge, when it turns to one’s own psyche as a deep inquiry into oneself, somehow leads beyond oneself. And I believe this knowledge needs forms in order to be shared: a sound, an instrument, a path.
